It is the virus responsible for influenza, which is known as the FLU!
HA: Hemagglutinin - A protein that causes red blood cells to clump together and attaches to the human, chicken, and guinea pig cell
NA: Neuraminidase - An enzyme starts the release of the flu virus from infected cells
M1: Matrix - keeps the virus together and lines the inside of the virion
M2: Membrane proteins - Makes a pathway that helps release the virus
NS2: Function is unknown
RNPs: RNA + a nucleoprotein - nucleocapsid contains the genetic make up of the virus
Viruses are not stable structures and cannot easily repair themselves. They have an increase chance of genetic mutation. This means something can come in and change the way a virus is suppose to grow normally. A cell can be infected by two viruses at the same time. This is possible because viruses do not have control over its replication process. Whatever happens in a virus becomes part of the virus!
